The interactive session was attended by students and faculty members of the Institute.
The session began with an interactive discussion where the participants were invited to share their thought, views and what they had heard pertaining to
HIV and AIDS with the objective of dispelling common myths and
misconceptions surrounding HIV and AIDS. The interactive discussion was followed by the screening of a short film Migration by Mira Nair, one of
the four short films produced under the AIDS JAAGO project funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The overall response from the students was very positive and encouraging and several of them were keen on associating with the HIV and AIDS awareness
campaign being run by Denim Club India. One of the students Mr. Sidharth Mehta was very forthcoming and volunteered to associate with the campaign.
He shall be promoting the HIV and AIDS awareness campaign by Denim Club India as the Brand Ambassador for the Rajasthan area.
Dr. D. K. Mathur, Assistant Professor, MLV Textille and Engineering College expressed “The students of today are the future of our nation
and also in high risk group due to change in socio-economic conditions. Increased awareness at this stage will help them in not only protecting themselves
from infection, but also in spearheading change in attitudes of their family members and civic society towards People Living with HIV. We will work with
Denim Club India and formulate a plan for organising HIV awareness sessions on a regular basis to be able to reach out and sensitise a larger number of
students.” |
