Lovely Professional University has come forward and joined hands with Denim Club India in the HIV & AIDS Awareness
Campaign being run by Denim Club India.
Denim Club India organized an HIV & AIDS Awareness Session at the Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, to sensitize the students about the various
issues related to HIV & AIDS. |

The interactive session was attended by students, faculty members and hostel wardens of the University. The interactive session began with Mr. Sunil
Budhiraja of Lovely Professional University, welcoming and introducing the team from Denim Club India.
Mr. Dudeja, Founder, Denim Club India, briefly addressed the audience which was followed by screening of 'Positive', a short film by Farhan
Akhtar, produced in the AIDS JAAGO project.
Subsequent to the film screening, Mr. J. N. Vohra, a seasoned technocrat, addressed the audience and invited Mr. Gaurav Gaur, Assistant Professor,
Department of Social Work, Punjab University, Chandigarh and National Trainer for the Targetted Intervention Programmes by the National AIDS Control
Organization (NACO) to answer queries and provide information to the participants.
The session warmed up fast and the students were very forthcoming in seeking clarifications for their doubts and queries pertaining to HIV and AIDS, as
well as expressing their usual inability to speak about topics of sexuality and HIV with their peer due to apprehension of being ridiculed.
While emphasising the need for safe sex, Mr. Gaur also shared with the audience that now women have the option to protect themselves from infection
by using Confidom, Condoms for women. He also displayed a sample of Confidom to the audience.
The interactive session was followed by a short Audio Video report of 2008 campaign by Denim Club India. The session wound up with a vote of thanks
and felicitation of resource persons. |
