The interactive session started with clarifying the fact that HIV and AIDS
are not one and the same thing and there were several executives who had
this misconception.
After initial inhibitions, the executives started coming out with the
doubts / queries they had in their mind and also sharing their own
thoughts.
One of the points discussed was regarding employing people who are living
with HIV. After discussion on issues such as loss of productivity, leaves
etc. It was encouraging to note that after some discussion most
participants were of the view that being HIV positive is not a deterrent
for carrying out the tasks at work.
The participants also felt that there definitely was a need for spreading
more awareness about HIV and AIDS and that even though they had come in
thinking they knew all, they had learnt several things which they were
simply unaware of or had their misconceptions cleared.
All the participants in the session took a pledge, on camera, to do
something or the other for the cause of spreading awareness about HIV &
AIDS.
