As a part of the run-up campaign to India
Denim Day, an awareness session was organized at Delhi Public School,
Mathura Rod, New Delhi for the students from two sections of class 8th.
Apart from students of class 8th, the session was also attended by the
peer educators of the school. The peer educators are students who are
trained to spread awareness about issues such as HIV and AIDS by speaking
to peer members at school, colleges etc.

The awareness session
was conducted by Mr. Michael Marshall, of Sahara Centre for Residential Care &
Rehabilitation.
The students were provided information on HIV & AIDS, the difference
between HIV and AIDS, the methods of transmission of HIV. The students
were also sensitised on the need to support People living with HIV and the
significance of reducing the levels stigma and discrimination directed at
People living with HIV. |
