I would just like to show my support in this great and much needed
Initiative to put focus and awareness of HIV/ AIDS.
It is so important for people to know about HIV/ AIDS, how to avoid
getting it, how it is spreading, how to live with it, how to react and how
to behave around those already positive.
It's about time we put our focus on such important causes - Thank you so
much and I am looking forward to support you every step of the way.

World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by
the spread of HIV infection. AIDS has killed more than 25 million people, with an estimated 38.6 million people
living with HIV, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history.
Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS
epidemic claimed an estimated 3.1 million (between 2.8 and 3.6 million) lives in 2005, of which more than half a
million (570,000) were children.
In India people in the age group of 15-29 years comprise almost 25 percent of the country’s population. However,
at the same time, this age-group also accounts for 31 percent of AIDS burden.
Lets us all come together with Denim Club India in organizing India Denim Day - with the objective of contributing
the proverbial drop in the ocean - for creating Awareness about HIV and AIDS.

World AIDS Day was introduced by the World Health Organisation on 1 December 1988.
This was the first time that attention around the world was focused for one day in the year on AIDS. It provided a
unique opportunity to highlight the seriousness of the pandemic.
Since 1988 World AIDS Day has developed into a huge event. It has become so big that in many countries it is no
longer only just one day; but a whole week of events and activities. India is one of the countries that is maximum
affected by HIV virus today. We all living in the Indian conservative society have always resisted and felt
shy to talk about this pandemic. But it's high time we talk and come forward to AID the
HIV and AIDS patient's around us.
India Denim Day is a unique platform that would really put this great cause of
HIV and AIDS awareness into the fast track
and benefit the society as a whole. It feels great to imagine a 'Blue army' of Denim clad individuals take charge
on the 1st December, 2008, and make a difference. Denim for me is fashion and fashion with a purpose. What better
can I ask for??
